THE TRULY UNIQUE PARTY SERIES
What is the best party? I would contend that the best party is the truly unique party. And contrary to what most people might believe, it’s NOT EASY to come up with a truly unique party.
So in my eternal search for that perfectly themed, perfectly executed party, I am formalizing my series of blog posts that I will call The Truly Unique Party Series. Here’s the list so far:
Meet My Neighbor Totoro: Brie’s 1st Birthday
JC The Philosopher: A Truly Unique Greek Party
Solen & Carli’s Pitch-Black Glow In The Dark Party
Manolo Gustav’s Guy Diamond Glitter Party
Today, I am so excited to share with you a new Truly Unique Party: Sam’s LOL Surprise! Party –
A BIG thank you to Michelle Morelos for these amazing photos!

Our very own version version of an LOL Surprise Factory. A little girl’s dream come true!
Textures, glitter, disco balls, balloons, and that strong punch of color!
At the risk of sounding self-promotional, I will say it: this is definitely one of the coolest parties we’ve ever styled!
The reasons are apparent: a cohesive and strong color palette (pink, fuchsia, peach / gold, and a touch of mint), great graphic design and artwork, and a generous portioning of balloons.
Oh, and of course: a truly unique theme.
THE BEST ENTRANCE TO A BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER
Some of you might notice this curious little object display on the stage:
No, it doesn’t contain a life-sized LOL Suprise Doll. What it does contain, however, will definitely surprise you!
Except perhaps the celebrating family’s entrance to our Flights of Fantasy parade, this is possibly the best party entrance I’ve ever seen:
Kudos to Mommy Queency for coming up with this BRILLIANT IDEA! Now how’s that for an unboxing!
LOL SURPRISE: A THEME I KNOW VERY WELL
Perhaps one underlying reason why I was so “intense” on this theme was because I could relate to it, on a very personal level. You see, LOL Surprise! is the favorite toy of my two daughters! So needless to say, I knew the “subject” very well.
What I liked about this theme in particular was that I had the perfect excuse to play with balloons!
On the stage, I laid out a cascade of mint balloons to simulate tons of LOL Surprise balls falling down:
At the entrance, everyone is greeted with an outpouring of various sized pink “balls”!
I also inflated extra large gold balloons and hung them on the ceiling:
And, we even recycled used LOL Surprise toy boxes and put some mint balloons inside!
Sam is a doll. She fits perfectly in that LOL Surprise Factory scene above!
I am also an absolute fan of LOL Surprise’s artwork and graphic design. So I loved playing up with the graphic design component of the party. This graphic poster we designed is too cute:
Back to the photo-op, I loved how we mixed the whole scene with actual 3D items and the 2D graphic designed elements:
In the above photo: the design of that large box-table (where the 3 “Fragile” boxes are) might be 2D, but it’s graphics are strong and blends well with the whole scene!
Simple, yet impactful: stacks of boxes with “scribbly” artwork
Even the main signage on the stage, containing Samantha’s name, was purposely designed in the spirit of the LOL Surprise art genre:
And speaking of best entrances, how’s this for a mega-entrance for the cake blowing:
Wow. This chandelier cake is literally over the top.
A 7TH BIRTHDAY PARTY TO REMEMBER
I’m just gonna go out and say it: this party is definitely one for the books.
Sam, the happiest 7th birthday to you!
Love,
Michelle
